Boardrooms & A Billionaire Heir

"I'm a man you sleep with, not fall in love with."

Jake Vance was danger in a designer suit, a charming corporate raider. When he set his sights on Blackstone's, Australia's richest diamond dealers, Holly McLeod's primary assignment was as his assistant; her secondary was as a spy. To her amazement, she learned her dangerously sexy boss was the long-lost Blackstone heir. And then Jake did the unthinkable: To save his new company, he proposed marriage...an intimate one...to her!

I was a brand-new Desire author of only barely two months, still floating on my First Sale high when I got an email from my favorite kiwi, Yvonne.  She asked if I'd like to join their merry group of five in this author-led continuity they'd pitched to the senior editor.  "You can say no if you want to," she added.  Right.  As if I'd say no to that!

Little was I to know how wonderful, stressed, exciting, euphoric and frustrating the next few years would be! J

So began the weeks of brainstorming.  I'd already had an idea percolating in my head about a missing heir suddenly returned into the Blackstone clan, and was thrilled when everyone gave me an enthusiastic thumbs up on Jake's storyline.  After writing then discarding an outline with a small-town, lovers-reunited theme,  the alternate boss/secretary romance really took off.

My favorite part to write is the dialog - the snap and banter of two people who know there's a sexual undercurrent there, and who can't keep baiting each other.  J   I'm especially proud of this story, because I learned so much from it, from editing and plotting, to what my writing process is.  It also took me less than six months to write -  a first for someone who's a world-class procrastinator!
"Boardrooms & A Billionaire Heir... has some wonderfully complex characters."
